Sanskrit is the oldest language in the world. It is from this language that countless modern day languages have been derived. The Sanskirt sounds carry potent vibrations that inspire spiritual growth, such as in the form of mantra repetition. TriYoga uses the Sankskrit terms in all of its teachings inclucing hatha yoga, jnana yoga, and Prana Vidya. Kaliji, founder of TriYoga, has worked closely with the brilliant Sanskrit scholar and teacher Dr. Sarasvati Mohan, in the translation and commentaries on the ageless teachings.

Dr. Sarasvati Mohan first began her study of Sanskrit under a private tutor at the age of six. In 1963, after years of research in unpublished Sanskrit manuscripts, she had the distinct honor of being the first woman to receive a Ph.D. in Sanskrit in India. Not only this, but she achieved this honor at the most prestigious educational institution of Sanskrit scholarship, Madras University.

Whether sharing Hindu mythology with large groups or patiently tutoring students one-on-one in the intricacies of Sanskrit grammar, Dr. Mohan is a teacher of extraordinary ability whose enthusiasm is contagious.

Dr. Mohan is a prodigious student as well. From Shakespeare and Kalidas to music and drama, from gardening and cooking to child-rearing and computer technology, from mythology and philosophy to the science of ayurveda, she seems to know something about everything. She speaks Telugu (her native language) and flawless English, but the overriding passion in life is her desire to share her love of Sanskrit in all its beauty and mystery.

To this end, Dr. Mohan is on a personal crusade to reawaken world interest in the magnificent heritage and cultural refinement which Sanskrit embodies. Capitalizing on her many interests, Dr. Mohan is developing new methods of making this ancient language more accessible to students of all interests and abilities. Combining eastern and western teaching methods, she has successfully guided students for three decades through the intricacies of the Sanskrit language.
